Classic Hip Hop Albums – UGK “Ridin’ Dirty”

UGK is widely considered to be one of the greatest hip hop dups to ever come from the Southern hip hop scene. Consisting of Bun B and the late Pimp C, the duo is one of the most accomplished artists to ever come from the Texas hip hop scene. From a mainstream perspective, they are recognized for collaborating with Jay-z in his hit “Big Pimpin’” . However for many fans of UGK, the apex of their success came with the release of their 1996 album Ridin’ Dirty.

Ridin’ Dirty is considered to be the best of all the UGK albums. Released in 1996 in a time where much of the mainstream focus on hip hop was focused on New York and Los Angeles, Ridin’ Dirty still managed to sell close to a million copies. In fact, the album is UGK’s best-selling album to date despite having any official singles or music videos for any of the songs.
